Sustainable Women’s Health in South Asia: An Introduction
摘要
This chapter examines the status of women’s health in South Asia, highlighting persistent disparities in maternal mortality, anaemia, suicide rates, and access to preventive care. Despite improvements in some health indicators, structural barriers—such as gender-based violence, limited autonomy, poor nutrition, and climate vulnerability—continue to hinder sustainable progress. The chapter advocates for a life-course, equity-centered approach integrating social, economic, and environmental determinants. It emphasizes the need for gender-responsive health systems, inclusive policies, and community-based strategies that center women’s voices. Achieving sustainable women’s health is essential for realizing the Sustainable Development Goals and fostering a just and resilient future in the region.
