NVFG Used for Filling Bony Cavities After Curettage

Curettage is a commonly performed procedure. The leftover cavity if small will heal. However, a large cavity does require a filler to avoid a pathological fracture. An autologous cancellous graft is the best material to fill such cavities, but because of its well-known disadvantage of limited availability, the cavity is not adequately filled. We have used NVFG as cavity filler after curettage (Fig. 10.1a–g). It can be used as single, double or even in multiple pieces (Fig. 10.2). The graft is easily available and has proven useful in healing and remodelling such cavities (Fig. 10.3).
