General Consideration
摘要
Bone grafting has long been described and has been a subject of many experimental and clinical studies. Various types of bone grafts are being used by most orthopaedic surgeons all over the world. The biologic incorporation of bone grafts into the host bone is dependent upon the type of graft, but the aim in all the cases is to replace the graft with the host bone by bone resorption and new bone formation. It is because of the increased demand for bone graft surgery for skeletal reconstruction that the interest in this area has grown, especially in limb salvage surgery. The procedure is commonly used for reconstruction after excision of bone tumours, post-infective gaps, post-traumatic bone loss and stability of failed arthroplasties.
