The suitable set of milling force constants (MFCs) in flat-end milling was the objective of this study. The different milling processes that include up milling, down milling, and slotting were carried out in this study. In different milling processes, the trend of the milling forces (MFs) is that the absolute value of the average milling forces (ABSVMFs) increases as the feed rate increases. In addition, ABSVMFs are determined to be the linear functions of the feed rate with a very high determination coefficient (R2 > 95%). The ABSV of edge force constants are several times as small as ABSV of shearing force constants. So, the edge force coefficients are not as important as the shear force coefficients. The set of MFCs in group 5 (maximum absolute values) are the most reasonable one to predict the MFs. Besides, one determination process of the suitable set of MFCs was also proposed from the results of this study.
