In recent years, Indian state governments have installed interactive flat panels (IFPs) in government schools. However, without locally tailored resources, these IFPs risk becoming underutilised. Curating and designing open educational resources (OERs) can enhance teaching by leveraging IFP capabilities. OERs, openly licensed educational materials, were collaboratively curated for biological sciences in Telangana schools. Researchers, experts, educators, and teachers developed an evaluation framework and implementation processes. Data included meeting records, discussions, and teacher feedback. The project resulted in adapted OERs suitable for Telangana’s context and IFPs. Forty-nine resources were evaluated using a framework on criteria like licence, pedagogy, curricular alignment, and IFP suitability. Findings highlighted a lack of curriculum-aligned OERs and less focus on collaboration, accessibility, and multimodal representations. Challenges included inconsistent internet access and IFP functionality, necessitating adaptable OERs and lesson plans. The effort emphasises the need for more OERs tailored for IFPs and the Indian educational context to maximise this technology’s potential in science education.
