Empathy in Engineering Education: A Bibliometric Study
摘要
This research/short paper focuses on Empathy education. Empathy enables engineers to understand the end user’s needs, preferences, and limitations as it helps identify perspectives for designing user-friendly and intuitive systems. This study captures the trends and directions of research on empathy education through a bibliometric analysis. It aims to identify the contributors, conceptual groups, pedagogies, frameworks, and insights from previous work on empathy education. 661 articles indexed in the Scopus database were analyzed for the period 1976 up to 2023 to uncover prominent authors, countries, and keywords, along with conceptual groups of studies through cluster analysis. These contributions will provide other researchers with a consolidated and resourceful foundation to develop deep analysis and further studies in this area to develop courses focusing on empathy development.
