The surge of educational technology (EdTech) in India has led to the development of products tailored to various subjects, grades, and use cases. While research has evaluated outcomes of EdTech products, there is a lack of studies that focus on the quality of product design contributing to effective student learning within India. The EdTech Tulna initiative has designed frameworks for assessing product design of different use cases across various subjects and grades. These evaluations are based on the dimensions of Content Quality, Pedagogical Alignment, and Technology and Design, which further comprise about 30 research-based criteria scored on a 3-point scale: Exemplary, Valuable or Potential to improve. By reviewing 50 evaluation reports, this paper identifies key strengths and areas of improvement in product designs. The analysis reveals that across use cases, subjects, and grade ranges, Content Quality is predominantly rated as Exemplary. Half of the products received an Exemplary rating for Pedagogical Alignment with a larger variation across the criteria, whereas in Technology and Design, the majority of products were rated Valuable. The findings offer insights for product designers to enhance product design that promote effective learning, while providing students with an understanding of the potential benefits and limitations of EdTech products.
