Semantics is a significant branch of linguistics and it primarily studies the meaning of linguistic expressions. Linguistic expressions include vocabulary and sentences. According to the categories of linguistic expressions, phrases can be classified as vocabulary. And semantics can be divided into lexical semantics and sentence semantics. Sentence semantics is closely related with lexical semantics but they are different. Lexical semantics primarily studies the meaning of a single word and the semantic relations among words.
