Densification Testing via Vitality Measurement Based on 5D Model Assessment with Multi-Source Data in Nanhuan
摘要
China's Fourteenth Five-Year Plan identifies urban regeneration as a priority, with densification serving as a key design strategy for creating vibrant and sustainable communities. This study examines how density interacts with spatial form and daily activity by analysing Nanhuan New Village in Suzhou, China. Using the "5D" model, multi-source spatial data, real-time streetscape images, and Analytic Hierarchy Process evaluation, the research reveals that the core "3D" dimensions—Density, Diversity, and Design—remain central to community vitality, with density exerting the strongest influence. The study offers a streamlined framework for assessing and enhancing vitality in high-density communities, demonstrating how densification can guide sustainable urban regeneration and support evidence-based design practice.
