Human was created with the instinct of creation, building, and innovation. Throughout the years, the essence of architecture witnessed a change from one era to another, with the changes that occurred to man himself and the environment around him reflected in architecture. This chapter will briefly trace the evolution of the essence of architecture that we sometimes ignore and summarize it in just some redundant visuals. “The essence of architecture is not just in its form, but in its ability to respond to and shape the lives of the people who inhabit it.” Gamal Bakri. Starting with defining the term “resilience” and what are the different forms of Resilient Architecture that respond to environmental issues such as climate change and man-made crises such as wars/conflicts. Success stories and case studies will be highlighted, showcasing the achievements of individuals and groups who have effectively utilized architecture and the built environment to address their needs. Emphasizing the significance of community engagement in driving change, we can harness our available resources for our benefit, even when they initially appear to be challenging.
