The increasing integration of advanced digital technologies has prompted corporate development to align closely with the digital age. Digital transformation has become a critical mechanism for firms to cultivate new quality productivity forces (NQPFs). Despite its significance, the mechanisms through which digital transformation fosters NQPFs remain underexplored. To address this gap, this study applies the Technology-Organisation-Environment framework and employs dynamic qualitative comparative analysis to examine a dataset of listed firms in mainland China. The analysis evaluates the combined influence of various digital transformation factors on NQPFs development. Findings reveal three key insights. (1) Digital transformation enhances NQPFs development through the coordinated interplay of multiple conditions across technological, organisational, and environmental dimensions, with no single condition proving universally essential. (2) Four distinct pathways emerge for achieving high NQPFs: Technology-Driven Model, Technology-Environment Synergy Model, Technology-Organisation-Environment Interaction Model, and Organisation-Environment Response Model. (3) The impact of conditional factors on corporate NQPFs varies across these configuration pathways underscoring the intricate and dynamic nature of digital transformation within corporate settings.
