Old industrial zones are not only the industrial imprints of a city but also represent its long and eventful history. Under the impetus of high-quality development, some industrial zones have gradually closed down due to limited development, becoming “lost spaces” in the city. This paper applies the “vine city” theory to the regeneration and utilization of old industrial zones, analyzes the problems encountered in the redevelopment process of old industrial zones, and proposes an update design strategy of “reviving the innovative atmosphere, exploring historical context, restoring ecological environment, and reconstructing spatial layout”. The strategy is applied to the urban design practice of Xuecheng Coking Plant, aiming to provide references for the future development of other old industrial zones and the protection of industrial heritage in China.

摘要
