In this study, we investigate the sensitivity of mass ordering as a function of supernova distance both active-active and active-sterile mixing scenarios within the framework of the ongoing neutrino experiment NO \(\nu \) A, demonstrating how supernova neutrinos can serve as a probe for the existence of sterile neutrinos. Our findings suggest that the primary channel of NO \(\nu \) A can differentiate between normal and inverted mass ordering with a \(5\sigma \) confidence level for a supernova explosion occurring at a distance of 5 kpc.

摘要

In this study, we investigate the sensitivity of mass ordering as a function of supernova distance both active-active and active-sterile mixing scenarios within the framework of the ongoing neutrino experiment NO \(\nu \) A, demonstrating how supernova neutrinos can serve as a probe for the existence of sterile neutrinos. Our findings suggest that the primary channel of NO \(\nu \) A can differentiate between normal and inverted mass ordering with a \(5\sigma \) confidence level for a supernova explosion occurring at a distance of 5 kpc.
