Solomon Islands
摘要
Solomon Islands has been shaped by great powers since the late nineteenth century when Germany and Great Britain engineered which islands would be within “Solomon Islands,” itself an idea of Spanish construction. From 1941 to 1945, during the Second World War, the United States and Japan fought for possession of the Solomon Islands, but largely to deny it to the enemy, and never out of any desire to obtain it long-term. Even in the twenty-first century, the Great powers of Australia and China have sought influence over Solomon Islands, but inasmuch as it can influence others or it can help extend great power regional influence. The result is that Solomon Islands can today leverage its different suitors, for its own benefit, and to its own advantage.
