While combating harsh environmental conditions, early humans transmitted their expertise on labor and daily life to the subsequent generations. As they contemplated their educational practices, nascent educational philosophies began to form. Although direct communication with our ancestors is impossible, and their sentiments toward education remain speculative, archaeological findings provide us with a partial glimpse into the educational paradigms of ancient China. The advent of written language and the establishment of schools marked the true genesis of systematic thought on education in ancient China.
