Urban green infrastructure (UGI) and nature-based solutions (NBS) can play a pivotal role in urban heat regulation. NBS are defined by the European Commission as follows: “[NBS are] solutions that are inspired and supported by nature, which are cost-effective, simultaneously provide environmental, social and economic benefits and help build resilience” (Voskamp et al. 2021: 2). Implementing and properly maintaining UGI is one such solution. “[UGI are] all natural, semi-natural and artificial networks of multifunctional ecological systems within, around and between urban areas, at all spatial scales” (Tzoulas et al. 2007, as quoted by du Toit et al. 2018: 1).

摘要
