Situating Feminist Views in Reflectivist Paradigm of International Relations
摘要
International relations permit countries to collaborate and share facts to face global problems towards a specific nation or area. Over the years, “International Relations” (IR) have endured a huge turmoil because of the “positivist approach”. Hence, the initial epistemology of greatest schools has come under attack by a loose federation of theories drawn collectively around their assessment of the fundamental positivist beliefs. The study shall cast light on establishing feminist opinions in the Reflectivist paradigm of International affairs by tracing history of feminist movement. Positivism as an epistemology within the realm of theory of International relations, dwelled on the idea of unity of science, with the driving assumptions of social sciences and natural sciences, having definite patterns of regularity. Reflectivism, also termed as a dissent against positivism, got prominence in International Relations with the debate against the rational status quo ideas prevailing in the discipline. The rise of Feminist scholarship in International Relations towards 1980s gave a new epistemological turn to this debate. It highlighted the agenda of systematic discrimination of women both in theory and practice of International Relations. In this light, the paper attempts to understand the feminist views in theory of International Relations as a critique of prevailing rational narrative.
