Kinetic Models of Dilute Polymeric Fluids: Existence of Global Weak Solutions and Rigorous Macroscopic Closure

We review recent results concerning the existence of large-data global-in-time weak solutions to Navier–Stokes–Fokker–Planck systems featuring in bead-spring-chain models for dilute polymeric fluids and discuss the rigorous macroscopic closure of macro-micro models of this type.
