Globalization and international law cannot be understood as two separate entities, they are intertwined with each other. With the onset of globalization, there has been an increase in the flow of trade, investment, and communication across national boundaries, and this has brought to the forefront the importance of international law in the ordering of these activities. The forces of globalization have influenced the formation and transformation of international law to demand new legal structures to tackle emerging global issues of concern. This chapter focuses on the role that international law plays in the management of the world economy and how globalization affects the international legal framework.
