Meniscus Rediscovered: An Overview of Current Findings and Challenges Regarding Meniscus Anatomy
摘要
This chapter provides a comprehensive review of recent anatomical discoveries and insights regarding the medial and lateral menisci. It covers the concepts such as surgically relevant anatomical division of the menisci into specific zones, discusses its stabilising structures, vascular supply, and menisci function. This chapter highlights new findings, including the recently identified medial meniscus artery and re-evaluated concepts such as the lateral meniscus suspensory complex, offering critical implications for clinical practice and surgical interventions.
