Influence of Higher Vibration Modes on the Dynamic Analysis of Bridge Subjected to Moving Loads
摘要
Moving load analysis is a challenging problem in structural engineering as the dynamic load changes its position with respect to time and space. The speed dependency of moving loads has sought the attention of many engineers and researchers in proposing various methodologies for the optimal design of bridges under moving loads. A simplified analysis has been presented in this paper, by idealizing the bridge as a Bernoulli–Euler beams subjected to a moving load with a constant velocity. The mode superposition technique has been used to assess the solution of the beam under the moving load. Further, the influence of different vibration modes on the bridge’s dynamic displacement and acceleration response has been analyzed accordingly. Based on the proposed methodology, a minimum of up to a third mode is recommended while analyzing the bridges under dynamic moving loads.
