Most of the concrete structures are susceptible to early damage due to physical, chemical and environmental conditions, leading to premature failure. It is crucial for researchers and engineers to understand the susceptibilities of concrete structures to ensure their long-term performance and safety. Therefore, structural health monitoring plays a crucial role in diagnosing the damage in early age and implementing preventive measures to prevent the catastrophic failure. This study focuses on assessing the damage of concrete containing natural mineral admixture and fibers under flexural loading using surface-bonded piezoelectric sensor through electro-mechanical impedance (EMI) technique. The healthy and damaged EMI measurements are acquired during the incremental loading using Inductance Capacitance Resistance (LCR) meter. The damage quantification is calculated using the root mean square deviation method (RMSD). This study helps to analyze the behaviour of concrete under flexural loading to non-destructively monitor the condition of concrete under crack initiation, propagation and fracture stages.

摘要
