A smart greenhouse helps the farmers to monitor and control the farm without much manual inspection. The model has both automatic and manual modes, which can aid in efficient monitoring and control of the greenhouse plants. The growth of tomato plants has been monitored in this chapter. As a greenhouse is a closed structure, it can protect the plants from the attack of pests. To irrigate the agriculture field, an irrigation system has been proposed. It helps in providing the optimal amount of water to the plants as it works according to the soil moisture threshold set by the farmer. During night, the plants are given the light required for their growth using HPS lamp. Soil humidity is measured using soil moisture sensors. Based on this, the flow of water is regulated using solenoid valves. HPS lamp is used for supplying heat, and an exhaust fan is used to remove excess hot air. The sensor readings are uploaded to the cloud service to enable remote access.
