Corpus Stylistics
摘要
This chapter explores corpus stylistics as an interdisciplinary field emerging from the “corpus turn” in stylistic research. It examines various definitions of corpus stylistics and identifies problems with current conceptualizations, particularly their narrow focus on literary texts and computational methods. The chapter discusses different approaches to corpus stylistics, distinguishing between studies emphasizing frequencies of linguistic forms versus functions of textual patterns. It proposes incorporating translator style research into corpus stylistic investigations as a way forward, highlighting advantages including bridging linguistic description with literary appreciation, enabling quantitative analysis, and providing comprehensive understanding through triangulation.
