This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of corpus-assisted translator style research developments over two decades. It examines various definitions of translator style, from Baker’s pioneering work to subsequent scholars’ contributions. The chapter categorizes research into TT-oriented and ST-oriented studies, discussing different corpus designs including comparable and parallel models. It identifies five variants of translator style research and emphasizes the importance of sense-making through translatorial and extra-translatorial factors. The chapter concludes by identifying a research gap in functional aspects of translator style, proposing corpus stylistic methods as a solution.
