Functional Styles and Beyond
摘要
This chapter synthesizes findings from previous analyses and explores underlying factors contributing to translator functional styles. It categorizes analyses into ST-TT and TT-TT comparisons, revealing patterns of stylistic similarities and differences among translators. The study examines translatorial factors (backgrounds, stances, preferences) and extra-translatorial factors (sociocultural contexts, patronage intervention, post-translational influences) affecting stylistic choices. Results show complex interactions between translator characteristics and external circumstances in shaping functional styles. The chapter demonstrates how multiple factors simultaneously influence translation decisions, emphasizing the need for comprehensive analytical approaches to understand translator functional styles beyond purely linguistic considerations.
