Traditional medicine, mainly herbal medicine, has contributed to healthcare systems worldwide, especially in rural and remote areas, despite modern advancements in science, technology, and allopathic medicine. Ayurveda, a traditional healthcare system used in Indian medicine, has been practiced for thousands of years and has a rich history of effectiveness. Modern research has also recognized the importance of Ayurvedic medicine. Many Ayurvedic drugs have been developed and used since ancient times, with some transitioning from tradition to trends in modern times. Among the strengths are the individual focus on the patient, which is inherent in Ayurvedic medicine. In the treatment process, pat, its physical characteristics, mental health risks, environment, and social aspects are combined to formulate an effective treatment plan that will enhance the patient’s performance while simultaneously minimizing the side effects that may accompany its use. Thus, the advantages of Ayurvedic medicine must be proven through scientific evidence for its acceptance in conventional medical practice. The therapeutic value of Ayurvedic medicine requires more investigation to be determined in all its aspects. However, the increasing importance of the Ayurvedic system of medicine implies that it is necessary to achieve this. When ideas from Ayurveda, a branch of traditional Indian medicine, are incorporated into comprehensive modern medical science, healthcare providers should be able to develop a more comprehensive healthcare system.
