Ayurvedic drugs, originated from traditional knowledge, are gaining prominence in present healthcare systems worldwide. Pharmacologically, ayurvedic drugs exhibit diverse therapeutic actions and mechanisms, with recent research shedding light on their pharmacokinetics and pharmacodynamics. Furthermore, pharmaceutical principles guide the manufacturing, quality control, and formulation of ayurvedic medicines, ensuring safety and efficacy. This chapter provides a comprehensive overview of the pharmacological and pharmaceutical principles highlighting ayurvedic remedies and their delivery systems. Exploring the evolution of ayurvedic remedies from ancient texts to modern applications, we highlight their relevance in addressing global health challenges.
