IoT-Based System for Hybrid Renewable Energy System and Its Application
摘要
The envision to effectively harness the potential of renewable energy is crucial due to the growing concerns of climate change and rising fossil fuel prices. Transitioning to renewables provides eco-conscious, cost-effective, and scalable solutions for global energy demands. Although promising, renewable energy systems face setbacks such as meager energy production, intermittency, and high initial costs. A Hybrid Renewable Energy System (HRES) is an integration of multiple energy sources like hydro, solar, and biomass, together with an energy storage system to provide a more reliable, efficient, and on-demand power supply. However, HRES includes multiple components that add layers of complexity in integration and management that limit its capacity to exclusively resolve challenges linked to renewable energy systems. This chapter provides an introductory idea on HRES and its composition, Internet of Things (IoT) fundamentals, and its application. It also aims to shed light on how an IoT-based approach to the HRES can help tackle these problems by enabling real-time monitoring and data analytics, improving energy management, and enhancing system efficiency. By leveraging IoT technology, HRES can adapt to changing conditions, ensuring a more resilient and effective energy solution in today’s dynamic market.
