Opportunities and Challenges for Women in Digital Entrepreneurship

This chapter explores that the realm of digital entrepreneurship presents both opportunities and challenges faced by women, framed through a SWOT (strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats) analysis. As digital technologies continue to evolve, women entrepreneurs are increasingly utilizing online platforms, digital tools, and global networks to launch and expand their businesses. This transformation presents significant opportunities, such as lower barriers to entry, flexible work arrangements and access to global markets. However, it also brings distinct challenges, including limited access to digital literacy, gender bias, and unequal funding opportunities. This chapter provides the SWOT framework and provides structured analysis of internal and external factors influencing women in digital entrepreneurship. Strengths include women growing presence in the digital economy innovation in tech driven solution and rise of female focused online communities. Weaknesses focus on societal gender roles gap in technical skills and lack of mentorship. The analysis of opportunities examines emerging markets, advancement in digital tools, and supportive policies encouraging women entrepreneurship. Threats highlight the barriers such as cyber harassment, lack of regularities, protection and increased competition in digital markets. Qualitative techniques of research were adopted, and sample was collected by purposive sampling method. Participants who have relevant experience or knowledge about digital entrepreneurship were selected. The chapter concludes by offering policy recommendations and strategies for empowering women in digital entrepreneurship. In summary, this study seeks to help build a more inclusive and supportive digital entrepreneurial environment for women.
