This study aims to provide a Systematic Literature Review on gender in digital entrepreneurship in developing countries. It does so by outlining the topic’s recent evolution, reviewing and critiquing previous studies, and highlighting areas for future study. A full report was produced based on 150 articles published between 2017 and 2024 on Scopus, Springer, Web of Science and Science Direct. We managed to extract 23 articles using the PRISMA protocol, and analyzed them with NVIVO for discipline, time period, methodologies, context, topic and theoretical emphasis. This SLR project seeks to develop an understanding of Gender in Digital Entrepreneurship, identifying current research patterns and anticipating potential future research avenues, as well as to broaden readers’ understanding of this field of research. We found that Gender Studies research is limited, disparate and less practice-based, the existing literature lacks epistemological and methodological diversity. We also found a positive relationship between digital entrepreneurship development and the reduction of gender gap in emerging countries, and a weakness of theoretical links between different fields of research on women’s entrepreneurship, which might explain the reason why this area of study has proved difficult for researchers. Recommendations on the subject include guaranteeing equal access to digital infrastructures, along with equal pay for both men and women to reduce gender disparities.
