Advanced Monitoring and Control of Multiple Greenhouses Based on LoRa-IoT

In recent years, the need to develop new technologies that improve greenhouse management, enhance resource utilization, and increase productivity while conserving energy has increased. Wireless Sensor Networks (WSN) provide a sustainable approach through Low Power Wide Area Networks (LPWAN) due to their ability to transmit information over the long term with low energy consumption. In this paper, we present a smart greenhouse parameter monitoring system based on IoT and Lora technology to collect and send real-time data such as temperature, humidity, solar radiation, CO2 levels,…etc. inside and outside the greenhouses, where these data are transmitted via Lora network to a centralized gateway and then to a network server for display on a dashboard. The results showed the system’s effectiveness in monitoring the parameters inside and outside the greenhouses remotely anytime and from anywhere with a web page, highlighting the good performance of the Lora network in transmitting data over distances of more than 5 km range and thus ensuring optimal growth of crops. In addition, this investigation intends to establish a multi-greenhouse monitoring and management system leveraging IoT architecture based on LoraWAN.
