Development of Asian Redtail Catfish (Hemibagrus nemurus) Farming in Indonesia
摘要
Asian redtail catfish (Hemibagrus nemurus) is one of the native freshwater fish of Indonesia. In addition to natural sources like rivers, reservoirs, and swamps, the Asian redtail catfish can be domesticated and cultivated in ponds, floating net cages, pen cultures, and polyculture systems (Fig. 2.1) (Aryani, 2017; Suhenda et al., 2010). Consumer demand for Asian redtail catfish is relatively high in some of its producing regions, with selling prices ranging from 50,000 to 70,000 rupiah per kilogram of fresh fish. In some areas with high production rates, this fish is processed into smoked fish, which sells for 150,000 to 200,000 rupiah per kilogram (Heltonika & Karsih, 2017).
