Domestication of Kelabau Fish (Osteochilus melanopleurus) from Indonesia
摘要
Kelabau fish (Osteochilus sp.) is one of the local fish from Indonesia. There are about seventeen (17) species of Osteochilus sp., spread in Asia, including East Kalimantan, North Kalimantan, Sumatera (Kampar River, Riau), Mekong dan Chao Praya River, and Malaysian Peninsula (Saanin, 1984; Roberts, 1989; Kottelat et al., 1993). Mulyasari et al. (2010) revealed that kelabau in Kalimantan Indonesia consists of two species, Osteochillus kelabau and Osteochillus melanopleurus but kelabau fish from Riau (Kampar, Rokan and Siak River) were from one species Osteochilus melanopleurus, Bleeker 1852 (Asiah et al., 2019). This chapter describes the domestication of kelabau fish, with emphasis of taxonomy and morphology, genetic diversity, and reproduction.
