In this chapter, some essential terminology is defined. Region, regional integration agreements, top-down regionalism and bottom-up regionalization are the four core terms in this respect. Institutional change is also a core term. Historical institutionalism and the globalization thesis where norms and practices diffuse from one part of the world to another will be discussed as theoretical lenses for this book.
