Numerical Modeling to Investigate the Short-Term Seabed Spatial Changes of the New Proposal Navigation Channel in Dinh an Estuary Under the Regulation Works
摘要
The large-tonnage ship channel into the Hau River is of great importance in transporting goods for the Mekong Delta. Although the channel through the Cut Channel was built and put into operation in January 2016, its efficiency is not commensurate significantly since the bottlenecks caused by sedimentation have reduced the exploitation efficiency of this channel. In order to take advantage of the Dinh An estuary, the largest estuary of the Mekong River, in transporting goods, the solution to regulate the Dinh An estuary is vital. This study is based on a numerical model to evaluate the spatial variation of the bottom of the channel proposed by Thanh and colleagues in 2024 as a basis for selecting a suitable adjustment solution. The results show that solution number 4 is the most ideal because this solution maintains a relatively large flow in the channel during both ebb and flood tides. In particular, the process of channel bottom evolution is not as intense as other options.
