Advancement of Artificial Intelligence (AI) in Antenna System and Design: A Review

The integration of AI into antenna systems and design has radically changed the face of the discipline by offering effective, versatile, and intelligent solutions to complex design problems. This review article investigates state-of-the-art developments in AI methodologies comprising machine learning, deep learning, and optimization algorithms used in the design, simulation, and optimization of antenna systems. These AI techniques provide promising alternatives to traditional design methodologies by allowing designers to predict antenna performance, optimize geometric specifications, and navigate constraints of complexity. In addition, the review discusses the current status of AI applications, challenges faced in assimilating AI into the antenna engineering perspective, and new trends that are evolving in intelligent antennas, beamforming, and reconfigurable antennas.
