In comparison with previous dynasties, lacquerware in the Ming Dynasty developed and progressed rapidly. The main reason for this advancement lies in the budding capitalist economy of the Ming Dynasty, which provided opportunities for the commercial production and trade of lacquerware. Additionally, the abolition of the labor-intensive system since the Yuan Dynasty allowed for more creativity in the manufacturing of lacquerware. With the development of maritime trade routes during the Ming Dynasty, and especially due to the active lacquerware market and overseas enthusiasm for the beauty of lacquerware, the aesthetic features of Ming Dynasty lacquerware can be summarized in the following keywords: decoration, intricacy, and beauty.
