This chapter reviews the existing literature on the internationalisation of higher education (HE), HE reforms in post-Soviet Uzbekistan, and the role of HE in nation-building. It provides a broad overview of key theoretical and conceptual frameworks on HE internationalisation, including its rationales, types, and implications for stakeholders. The chapter also examines scholarship on the intersection of HE and nation-building, as well as the trajectory of HE reforms in post-Soviet Uzbekistan. By identifying gaps in both HE internationalisation and Central Asian education studies, this chapter positions the research within the broader scholarly discourse and highlights its contribution to addressing these gaps.

摘要
