This chapter introduces the subject matter of internationalisation of higher education in post-Soviet Uzbekistan. It provides a brief overview of the tertiary education situation in the country. The chapter lists the central research question, the purpose and significance of this research project. The detailed research design of the book including the data collection and analysis methods as well as the fieldwork experience, are presented in this chapter. The chapter also provides definitions of key terms and lists the limitations of this study.
