Media Revolution Triggered by the Development of New Technologies
摘要
“New Media” is a concept that evolves and develops in the context of constant innovation. Mark Hansen, in his book New Media, specifically pointed out: “Human evolution can be characterized by a series of ‘new media’ revolutions, which are inherently linked to technology. This ongoing chain of ‘formerly new’ media forms is a clear testament to this co-evolution”. The “new” in new media is relative, as it refers to the “new” media formats that emerge, supported by new technological infrastructures. However, today’s new media are constantly being replaced by emerging, newer forms of media, driven by technological advances, and thus become obsolete media. The emergence of a new media form is the result of the continuous development of media technology, which transforms traditional media and updates new media through a process of quantitative to qualitative change.
