This chapter investigates the complexities of urban morphology in high-density vertical environments through the lens of hyper-morphology. It explores the evolution of urban complexity, focusing on multi-layered spatial systems, vertical “liveability”, and mixed-use hyper-morphologies. The chapter further develops the concept of vertical liveability by integrating density, functional diversity, and multi-level connectivity. It introduces a framework comprising nine key urban design elements to assess the relationship between urban complexity and human experience, for enhanced liveability and adaptability in dense urban settings.
