This chapter brings together a range of theoretical perspectives to understand the complex and layered experiences of a migrant tribal community that relocated from their native-indigenous origins to the globalising metropolis of Kolkata. Having resided in a urban fringe of a metropolis for over four decades, the community’s journey reflects multiple and intersecting transitions. These theoritical insights will help elucidate the ongoing reconfiguration of tribal identity, belonging, and modernity/globality in an urbanising and globalising context of the city.
