Objective: We aimed to analyze and compare AI-generated content for project proposal development by Wenxin Giant Model 4.0 Turbo and 360 Intelligent Brain. Methods: We inquired the two AI APPs to generate titles, rationale, objectives, research content and methods in Chinese for project proposal development. The AI-generated content was then translated into English by the same AI. A real project proposal approved by National Natural Science Foundation of China was used as a gold standard for analyses and comparison, considering the relevance, principles of experimental/semi-experimental study designs, logic, number of words in title, details, and extra information when applicable. Each dimension was scored for AI-generated information for each request and related parts in the approved proposal with a range from 0 to 100. Results: The scores of the titles, rationale, and objectives were higher than those of the research content and methods, all of which were created by Wenxin Giant Model 4.0 and 360 Intelligent Brain. Research content and methods developed by Wenxin Giant Model 4.0 were scored higher than those by 360 Intelligent Brain. The scores for related parts of the approved proposal appeared more than those created by the two AI APPs. Conclusions: Both Wenxin Giant Model 4.0 and 360 Intelligent Brain are good at generating content about project titles, rationale, and objectives, while Wenxin Giant Model 4.0 can provide better content than 360 Intelligent Brain for research content and methods. However, it seems hard for the two AI APPs to be creative enough for project proposal development.
