Conversations on development are gradually being shaped by the dynamically changing system of international processes that visibly suffers from deficits and discrepancies. As we approach the third decade of the twenty-first century, it is clear that the liberal international order is fighting to survive. What began as a medium for opening borders to facilitate free flow of information, goods, services and knowledge is now in a state of flux. This chapter assesses the relation shared by partnerships and the larger goal of development and how these two shape the aid dynamics in the connectivity framework. Section 2 discusses the prominence gained by Southern-driven partnerships, especially by India, Brazil, South Africa and also China to a range of complexities and concerns faced by the existing global order. Section 3 explores the modality of triangular cooperation and how it can leverage scale, scope, effective and efficient delivery for the SDGs, thereby bolstering connectivity initiatives. Section 4 looks at the EU-India trilateral and how they can further cooperation in sectors that are critical for sustainable development. By focussing on climate adaptation; mobilising quality finance for sustainable development; enhancing mutual trust in trade and technology cooperation; building a pool of shared expertise and soft skills for the global South; and prioritising infrastructural connectivity for the Indo-Pacific the EU-India trilateral can open new pathways for robust partnerships.
