The dynamism in UAE’s domestic and foreign policy has attracted internal attention. Its economic and social transformation has arguably become a model for the regional countries and has created an immense regional and international goodwill for the country. The UAE has also been proactive in regional and international politics and as a business, tourism and cultural hub. Despite the Hamas-Israel war and the Gaza crisis, the UAE did not break off relations with Israel while condemning its military actions in the Gaza Strip and calling for an immediate ceasefire. With a proactive regional policy, the UAE had emerged as an important player carving a niche for itself and gradually moving away from the shadows of the bigger neighbour, Saudi Arabia. India’s relation with the UAE have strengthened significantly due to the ability of the Prime Minister Modi and President Mohammed bin Zayed to forge a strong personal rapport and diplomatic ties. The country has since 2014 emerged as the lynchpin of India’s Middle East and Gulf policy and has moved to the centre of India’s growing relations with the region. The extent of India-UAE ties can be assuaged from the fact that Modi has visited the country seven times until 2024 since undertaking the first visit in August 2015.
