Analysis of AC/DC Fault Characteristics and DC-Side Fault Self-clearing Principle of MMC
摘要
This chapter examines fault characteristics and self-clearing principles for different MMC topological structures under AC/DC conditions. The discussion covers several key topics: MMC short-circuit current characteristics during AC-side faults; calculation methods for HMMC short-circuit current with half-bridge submodules during DC-side faults; and self-clearing principles through submodule blocking for FMMC, CMMC, and FHMMC during DC-side faults. It also analyzes the common features and costs of three MMC types with DC-side fault self-clearing capability. The chapter concludes by exploring FHMMC operations with reduced DC voltage, direct fault current control principles, a performance comparison of different fault-clearing methods, and recommendations for MMC topologies with self-clearing capabilities.
