This chapter explores the insulation coordination design of MMC stations. It covers the characteristics and arrangement of metal oxide surge arresters, their parameter selection, and the determination of protection and insulation levels for two-terminal MMC-HVDC converter stations. The chapter also examines shared grounding point technology in multi-terminal MMC-HVDC systems, including key considerations and overvoltage issues.
