Equity Centric Evaluation of Transit-Oriented Development Using Analytical Hierarchy Process
摘要
Transit-oriented development (TOD) focuses on establishing compact, mixed-use, pedestrian-centric communities around public transit stations. Equitable transit-oriented development (ETOD) targets inclusivity by striving to meet the needs of low-income and differently abled populations. This research work aims to identify and quantify associated factors by developing a scoring system using a weighted sum. The weights from literature cannot be applied directly to the Indian context. Hence, the analytical hierarchy process (AHP) was employed to assign weightages to various factors. The study results identified the factor “Transportation” is the predominant factor, appearing as the most crucial aspect. Within transportation, the sub-factor “Frequent and reliable transit” (0.478) is found to have the most significance, emphasizing the necessity of having trustworthy and consistent public transportation choices for a better ETOD.
