摘要

This chapter explores a domain of audio signal processing that directly impacts human daily life in urban environments, connecting both with analysis tasks and practical applications. The chapter is structured around three important areas of research and development: “Urban Soundscape Augmentation,” which investigates methods for enhancing acoustic experiences in urban settings through positive sound elements; “Active Noise Control,” covering both traditional and deep learning-based approaches to mitigate unwanted noise in urban environments; and “Urban Sound Tagging,” which examines taxonomies, datasets, and spatiotemporal context-aware techniques for classifying urban sounds and their implementation in urban sensing applications. Advancements in urban sound research hold significant potential for improving the quality of life in cities, reducing noise pollution, supporting smart city initiatives, informing urban planning decisions, and enabling more effective environmental monitoring systems that contribute to healthier, more sustainable urban environments.
